REBUILDING YOUR FUTURE

THE QUAD-REBUILD STORY

Quad-Rebuild was founded by Joseph English in 2017. Whilst rehabilitating at The Princess Royal Spinal Injury Unit, Joseph, like many people in the UK, experienced a very difficult rehabilitation programme. Laying in a hospital bed day after day, feeling frustrated and helpless, Joseph began to form the idea of providing acute mentoring to support inpatients. After getting to know his fellow inpatients, it became apparent that there were many individuals in the unenvious position of waiting for either social housing, or to be moved into a care home, solely due to lack of funds to adapt their own homes or the timescales imposed by their local authority. Although Joseph had his own challenges to adapt to, he couldn’t shake the desire to make a difference to the people he had met in rehab. Seeing how many people were struggling to come to terms with their new appearance and sense of individuality helped Joseph form the third tenet of Quad-Rebuilds motto: Rebuilding Your Image.

OUR MISSION

We are dedicated to empowering individuals affected by spinal injuries and those who may be adapting to life in a wheelchair. Our mission is to help them rebuild their lives from the ground up through:

  • Promoting Social Awareness: Educating the public about spinal injuries to foster a more inclusive and understanding society.
  • Lived Experience Mentoring: Connecting individuals with mentors who have navigated similar experiences, providing guidance and support.
  • Home Adaptation Assistance: Helping modify living spaces to enhance accessibility and independence.
  • Providing Companionship: Offering emotional support and friendship to combat isolation and promote well-being.
  • Rebuilding Self-Confidence: Supporting individuals in rediscovering and embracing their self-image and potential.
  • Life after injury  – Supporting individuals and their families navigate life after injury with resilience and optimism. Each person’s journey is unique, so personalised support and flexibility in services are essential for meaningful recovery and adaptation.

Together, we strive to create a community where everyone can lead a fulfilling and empowered life, regardless of their physical challenges.

REBUILDING OUR LIVES

At Quad Rebuild, we specialise in crafting personalised rehabilitation plans designed specifically for you. As you embark on this next chapter of your life, we are dedicated to assisting, supporting, and guiding you every step of the way.

REBUILDING YOUR IMAGE

Rebuilding one’s image and self-confidence during rehabilitation can indeed be a crucial part of the healing process, especially after experiencing an injury. Joseph’s realization highlights how seemingly small changes, like getting a haircut, shaving, or wearing a favorite outfit, can significantly influence self-acceptance and mental well-being.

FAMILY SUPPORT

Quad-Rebuild stands beside families facing spinal injuries, offering not just understanding but tangible support, ensuring they can focus on what truly matters: their loved one’s recovery. Providing financial assistance for travel or accommodation costs during hospital stays can significantly ease the burden on families already coping with the emotional and logistical challenges of such a life-changing event. This kind of support can make a real difference in helping families focus on supporting their loved one’s recovery without additional financial stress.

OUR VISION

We aim to reduce the time people spend in rehabilitation by adapting their homes to support their new requirements. With our core network of building specialists, we can ensure that despite their challenges, our service users can retain as much independence as possible. We also understand the vital importance of safeguarding mental health and endeavor to connect those struggling with their emotional wellbeing to individuals who can offer companionship and help them build their confidence.

REBUILDING OUR HOMES

Coming from a background in construction led Joseph to realise how he could support people to remain in their comfort zones by helping to adapt their homes with grants and specialised equipment. Enabling people to move freely around their home, independently, is a key step to improving their mental health.

REBUILDING YOUR FUTURE

Assisting you with the move from rehabilitation back into your home, and improving your confidence to live as independently as possible is a huge part of your transition back in to society and fundamental to beginning your new life.
